The limited class size of no more than 10 students, allows Corden Porter staff to address the individual academic and behavioral needs of our students. The goal of Corden Porter staff is to have all students graduate high school with a Core 40 diploma or higher. Coursework is designed to meet this goal with emphasis on language arts and mathematics. The majority of our students also receive small group intervention in these subjects.
Due to the variety of high school electives, multiple courses may take place within the same classroom. For example, a para-educator may be working on a Earth/Space Science activity with a small group, while the teacher works with a group of Biology students. When students transfer to Corden Porter during the school year, Corden Porter makes every effort possible to continue the coursework that students had begun at their home school.
